The "Prevention Core Competencies" document, published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in May 2021, offers a comprehensive framework of essential knowledge, skills, and abilities for professionals in the prevention field.  

It aims to guide staff development, inform career pathways, and provide direction for training programs and service delivery qualifications. By establishing these competencies, SAMHSA seeks to professionalize the prevention workforce, ensuring that practitioners are well-equipped to implement effective prevention strategies and interventions.
